When the dream of following God’s call in starting this ministry of LOFT 218 began to come to fruition… I wanted to meet with a very well-respected and successful non-profit founder in Nashville, Nancy Alcorn.  (Check her ministry out at mercyministy.org  She’s just simply AWESOME!)

Nancy agreed to meet with me to share her perspective and allowed me to glean wisdom from her.  She even left lunch that day committing to support our cause!  Mercy Ministries was our first donor!

It was one of the last things she shared with me that day, that at the time I did not realize would turn out to be so true!  I am paraphrasing her here… But she said, “People will think you are crazy for what you are trying to start.  Some of your own family and friends will even think so.  But you know what God has called you to do, and you must stay focused on that.”

Now, I know exactly what she is talking about!  I have had people tell me I am crazy for starting this ministry.  I have had people tell me other people think I am crazy.  This was/is a tough pill for me to swallow… deep inside the people pleaser in me wants everyone to understand and be excited about this!

But what I discovered is… I AM CRAZY!

I am CRAZY in love with a God that has done some crazy things!  He sent His son to die on a cross for my sins (I am a chief sinner among sinners, by the way) and not just my sins, but for the world.  He died and rose again in three days and will return again.

As a child, I made Him Lord of my life.  I put Him in charge.

It begs the question… Wouldn’t I be crazy to not follow Him?

Not only am I crazy about Jesus, but I am crazy about orphans!

Witnessing first hand the needs of orphans, as my family has adopted a precious daughter, and also traveling overseas and spending time with orphans… I can’t shake them!

The Bible is full of scripture about orphans, and how God wants us to take care of them.  When I read them, I feel like I don’t have an option.

I am also crazy about India! Sometimes I wish I could revisit the African Bush, or travel to some of the South American countries I have visited.  But it is India that is always in my heart.

I could go on and on about the need that is there…

I guess my main point in blogging today is to say…

Yes, I AM CRAZY!  I don’t have all the answers and I have no idea how all of this will turn out.

But I know I trust in HIM and right now… that is enough!
